About Us
MISSION AND OBJECTIVES
To be a reference for all patients considering the humanly way our tasks are performed daily and always in benefit of our clients.
To be permanently available where reaching the doctor becomes easy.
To acquire and maintain the confidence of all our patients and colleagues.
To cultivate internally an environment where respect and competence are the generators of the rules, always guiding the assertive conduct.
Our History
The Clinical Institute of Allergology (ICA) was founded in August
1995 by the Immuno-allergists, Pedro Lopes da Mata and Nuno Neuparth.
In 2020, 25 years later, ICA accounts with more than 20.000 patients and over 60.000 consultations given throughout these years.
At first it was just the bringing together of two colleagues and friends from the Lisbon Hospital as well as University where both had been working.
Both had come from long stays in other countries, Switzerland, France, and England, and thought that private medicine, which at that time was usually done individually, should be done together. They then decided to “join forces”, assuming at the outset that they would never go on holiday at the same time and that all patients would have support, at any time, during the 365 days of the year.

As time went by, ambitions grew, and in order to extend allergy care, it was now necessary to create a small unit in a hospital environment.
That is how they went to the British Hospital, where they stayed for 12 years. In 2008 they left and settled where the Clinical Institute of Allergology (ICA) is still today.
Times brought changes and maintaining deep friendship and respect, the ICA continued, but only with Dr. Pedro Da Mata.
Since then, other colleagues have joined us, counting currently with 5 allergists and other colleagues in the fields of pneumology, gastroenterology, internal medicine, rheumatology, paediatrics and nutrition.
In 2020 we continue to believe that the most important element in our team is the “way we do” and not “what we do”.
